In 2002, Etheline Desir founded Desir Group Executive Search as a result of her personal observations as well as input from a variety of sources which included an American College of Healthcare Executives survey revealing that minorities held less than 2% of executive positions in hospital administration. It was a fact she could not ignore. Under her guidance, Desir Group gained a reputation as the leading “diversity” retained search firm, making significant contributions to the industry, by placing many qualified minorities in key executive positions in hospitals across the country. Building on her previous Fortune 100 experience in banking, finance and technology, on top of her experience working with top-tier legacy search firms, Etheline has developed a highly respected healthcare search firm with an enviable client roster.
She leveraged her wealth of C-suite executive search experience and intentionally introduced a platform of services around talent acquisition and retention, professional image and personal branding. She is passionate about mentoring and guiding early careerists and mid-level executives to compete more effectively and win. On the other hand, she has helped her clients build and accelerate a culture of meaningful diversity and high performance. Etheline is highly respected for her employee acculturation expertise, which is especially valuable in directing clinical departments where often, multiple generations and foreign nationals are accountable for patient care.
In the war for qualified and ethnically diverse executive talent, Etheline has set Desir Group apart by helping her clients avoid wasteful and costly mistakes. Desir Group has established a reputation for presenting only candidates that fit the unique culture of each organization. Her skills and professionalism help to ensure a successful hire – every time, which helps explain Desir Group’s impressive 97% placement retention rate. She is certified in Advanced DISC Assessment, which strengthens her understanding of organizational dynamics, human behaviors and work style preferences.
Once again in 2014, in response to the onslaught of administrative and regulatory mandates stemming from healthcare reform, under Etheline’s guidance, Desir Group has transformed into an Executive Search and Performance Management firm adding highly customized solutions in Culture Transformation & Integration, Strategy Implementation, Turnarounds and Performance Management within the healthcare operations vertical. Her vision is to assist her clients in achieving higher quality of care, lower costs, better patient access and outcomes – all leading to healthier communities. She has assembled a cadre of healthcare executives who can offer peer to peer support to their C-suite clients.
Etheline actively engages in various professional and community organizations including the American College of Healthcare Executives, the National Association of Healthcare Executives, the American Society of Healthcare Human Resources Administration as well as local and national civic and social organizations. Etheline was born and raised on the island of St. Lucia and moved to the United States as a teenager. She received a bachelor’s degree from Atlantic Union College in Lancaster, Massachusetts, and an MBA from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
“I was grateful for the opportunity to meet and partner with Etheline. She is a world class, highly professional individual that everybody should meet. I am pleased to personally endorse her firm for its quality and personalized approach. Thank you for all that you do.”
