Rupert M. Evans Sr. is currently an Assistant Professor at Governors State University's Master of Health Administration Program. He directs the Healthcare Management Courses at Governors State, while also lecturing in other health sciences areas. During his down time from Governors State, he leverages his more than 25 years of experience in operations, health management and cultural diversity to help promote the Desir Group's mission …"of identifying and acquiring exceptional culturally-driven executive talent for high performing organizations."

Rupert is the immediate past President of the Institute for Diversity in Health Management an affiliate of the American Hospital Association. Prior to joining the Institute for Diversity, he was the President and CEO of the Erie Family Health Center, one of the largest, Federally Qualified Community Health Centers in Chicago. Rupert is a highly decorated veteran who holds many honors and awards after a 25-year healthcare administration career in the US Air Force.

A teacher and mentor, by nature, he has served as faculty at Rush University's Health Systems Management Department, The Governance Institute, American College of Health Care Executives, National Association of Health Services Executives, AONE, The American Governance and Leadership Group, and The International and Quality and Productivity Center. He has published articles in the Journal of Healthcare Management, Modern Healthcare Magazine and other trade publications.

He holds fellow status in the American College of Health Care Executives and the UIC Public Health Leadership Institute. He is past President of the Chicago/Mid-west Chapter of the National Association of Health Services Executives; serves on the Board of Directors of the African American Healthcare Council, the UIC Urban Health Advisory Council and is a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Rupert attained his Doctorate of Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University. He also holds a Master's degree in Public Administration/Health Services Management and BA in Environmental Studies.
